This varies depending upon the size and complexity of the project and the local authority. Most straightforward domestic planning applications are decided within 8-12 weeks. When an application is submitted to the local authority It will usually be registered and validated within 2 weeks. A decision date will generally be set 8 weeks from the day of validation.

It is possible that the local authority will ask to agree a new (later) decision date to accommodate the planning officers work load, to allow design amendments to be assessed or to allow further consideration.
